I'm having a similar issues with reaching the factory caster values on both sides. I ran out of adjustment and still about half a degree short on factory spec. Would these have a smaller overall footprint than factory plates? I have no need for more camber so would be interested in similar solution but with symmetric mounting holes. Does anyone know if such thing even exists?
If you go after market with the camber plates they all have the inboard camber mounting holes. You may be able to get to factory '0' (in my car) camber with these plates but if not you can just swap them side to side so the holes are outboard to get less camber. Hope this helps. -Kav.
@@kavs911 Makes sense, Thank You

I assume Porsche uses this adjustable system for cam timing, as opposed to one position, so that it is easy for someone to change the timing from standard to compensate for chain wear or custom specs. Is that correct?
Not so much chain wear but you can alter the cam timing to tune your power band.
I've only just come across your videos of the 911 engine build and I have to say you've done a good job. My only negative comment is when torqueing down nuts. My tool maker Dad told me to take the nuts down a bit at a time until they were all at the required torque otherwise you could still distort whatever it was you were tightening.

Thought you had left for good. Nice to see you again. Thanks for the video.
Good to see you back!
I missed you man
Welcome back!
Indexing the cams was fun. I was with VW-Porsche in the mid to late 60's and had a 66 911 which I built into a very radical machine. When I was done with it, there were only two like it in the US. One in SoCal and one by Brumos. The double offset Crows wrench looked a bit different than the one that he had. RIP Peter. The people who worked on them back then were something else.
Great teacher
Why timing this thing so complicated. It doesn't look it one.
7:22 Wheel bearing grease seal installed backwards. These are solid seals (no recess on one side vs other) and the small seal should go to the outside nearest the spindle. Check out Pelicans, "Porsche 911 Front Wheel Bearing Replacement" tutorial and see it is indeed backwards. That is not good. This is the second video I have seen installed upside down. Surprised nobody caught it, it is pretty clear to see on other photos/videos that this is backwards.
Beautiful craftmanship. Love to achieve this build too.
With the rings only for one side then use a file to deburr the edges
They cracked you're case?
Still want to see this 911 started up and celebrate the rebuild 🥲
Hello Kav, who did the cam regrind?
It's really amazing how someone originally came up with making these carburators.Thankyou for taking the time showing step by step process.
Good job. I rebuilt a 69 t engine in the early 70s on the dirt floor in my brother’s garage

In 1974 I bought a 69 911T with a non running engine. I was told that the PO downshifted into 1st instead of 3rd and destroyed the engine. Got it for $2,200 and towed it home behind my brothers 67mustang. Bought either a Haynes or Chilton manual and dove into it. Found that all 6 exhaust valves were bent and all 6 exhaust rockers were broken. So I tore it down to the crank. Plastigaged all of the rod and main bearings. All were okay, the pistons were okay, but I replaced all of the rings, and of course the exhaust valves, 3 exhaust valve guides and all 6 exhaust rockers. It cost me a few hundred dollars for parts. Put it all back together and drove it for a year before I sold it.
It appears at 11:12 you left the screens in. I believe the recommendation from Ollie's and others is to remove those when the oil bypass mod has been done.
Also, could you not use the torque wrench adapter to tighten the flywheel bolts? Like, put the adapter wrench on the hex part of the 12 point tool? (perpendicularly as another user pointed out)
If you look at Henkel's user guide you will find that they recommend putting the Loctite on the internal threads of blind holes... like your case studs.
I wish you would make more videos. You're like the Bob Ross of engine builds.
Why does a 6-cylinder boxer engine need a balance shaft?
I love the rubber bands solution to an old problem, well done there it made my day!
Sorry for the loss of your father.
What modifications did you need to make to the heads to accommodate the 81mm S pistons? Excellent videos. Thank you.
Hello very Good clip ! I whant to know were i can buy the same engin support please ? Thank you !
Please stop putting 574 around through bolt hoes. Or any sealant for that mater.

Hi
Thank you for the detail!!
Oh my world, I love your work, so clean😍
Hi - I have a similar set up. Did you have to modify the stand to accept the yoke, or vice verse?
This is awesome. ! Helped rebuild Ford small blocks before , it was pretty fun. However this looks like wayy more fun. I've been bitten by the Porsche bug..! Great video..
